KBA celebrates International Women’s Day

Happy International Women’s Day to all the strong and powerful women around the world! Let’s take this day to recognise the amazing achievements and contributions of women in all walks of life.

Let’s celebrate the progress we’ve made towards gender equality, while also acknowledging the work that still needs to be done.

Together, we can create a world where all women have equal rights and opportunities.

When we asked our Company Director, Sarah Hogan, what International Women’s Day means to her, she said:

“International Women’s Day can be a day that’s misunderstood. It’s a day to celebrate the achievements of women globally and although we are moving forward, the world is not an equal place. I believe in equality, whether that’s gender or any other form of diversity. Today, I reflect.

“I am so proud to be a businesswoman leading the way in a ‘man’s world’ – the world of financial planning.

“I am proud of having two daughters who are driven and headstrong and look at me as a role model. I am proud of my team, male and female, and that we don’t discriminate, and we move forward together as a team.

“I think about how fortunate I have been to have male role models in the industry, who have shared their knowledge with me to help me grow. I am inspired by wonderful female client role models that I am lucky enough to call friends.

“I love being a woman, a role model, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a girlfriend, a business owner and much more. But, at the end of the day, I am me and, whether its International Women’s Day or not, our uniqueness should be celebrated.”

Cheshire Life Ladies Lunch

In aid of #InternationalWomensDay, and to celebrate their feature in the March issue of Cheshire Life Magazine, Leyna Shuter and Emma Bell represented the women of KBA at the Cheshire Life Ladies Lunch, along with Sarah Hogan.

They met empowering local businesswomen who shared stories and top tips on the daily running of their businesses.

We caught up with some of these fantastic local women and asked them what International Women’s Day means to them…

Kate Houghton – Editor, Cheshire Living & Home Editor, Cheshire Life

“On International Women’s Day it’s an opportunity to truly celebrate women who lead by example, not just those who have achieved great things in their career, but every woman who shows what you can do with self-belief, self-confidence and self-worth, the women who hold out a hand to the next woman, who promote, inspire, educate and encourage every one of us in every aspect of our lives.

“Perhaps the most joyous part of my role is meeting the men and women of Cheshire who have set themselves a goal, and achieved it – whether that be in business, in fundraising, in sport, in education, in any and all areas of life – and then getting to tell their stories.”

Hannah Barnes – Owner and Interior Designer of Hannah Barnes Designs

“International Women’s Day to me is such a celebration of who we are, and that there is nothing quite as powerful as a supportive community.

“As a mother and a business owner, I am reminded on a daily basis that the female support network around me is essential to my wellbeing and success. My own mother’s drive and creativity, my sister’s support, and the ongoing community of other mothers and women in business, all remind me how we hold each other up, push each other forward, and ensure each other’s success. Speaking personally, I have eternal gratitude for the women in my life and aim to pay forward the sense of female empowerment and solidarity we have built around us.”

Sarah Laker – Owner of Stationery Supplies

“International Women’s Day is a day when I acknowledge and honour ordinary women around the world for our daily contributions to society. To celebrate how far we have come with gender equality while recognising that there is still a long way to go. And for remembering those who fought to get us the things we take for granted today.

“I am the proud mum of two daughters, who I have brought up to believe in gender equality and to stand up for what they believe in.”

Celebrating all the women, who make up half of KBA

Finally, we would like to take a moment to recognise our fabulous KBA ladies for all their achievements and contributions that they have all made, professionally and personally.

We are extremely proud to say that over half of our team here at KBA are women, each one of which work extremely hard, day in and day out, to help us achieve our company goals.

It’s incredible to have such a strong, intelligent, and ambitious team of women, and a fantastic team of men that support us, and vice versa.

Well done, ladies.
