What We’ve Been Working On: May–June Adviser Update

The KBA Adviser Team Bi-Monthly Round Up: May – June 2026

The last couple of months have been busy for our Adviser Team, with a strong focus on professional development, technical training, client education, and staying ahead of industry changes to ensure we’re continuing to deliver the highest standard of advice to our clients.

Strengthening Our Technical Knowledge

Inheritance Tax planning continues to be a key area of focus following recent legislative changes and the planned inclusion of pensions within estates for Inheritance Tax purposes from April 2027. Several members of the team attended the Royal London Inheritance Tax Workshop, exploring how these changes could affect clients and reviewing effective planning strategies to help families preserve more of their wealth for future generations.

Alongside this, our advisers have continued attending regular market update sessions and investment briefings to stay informed on economic developments, investment markets, and the latest planning opportunities available to clients.

Investing in Better Client Outcomes

Throughout May and June, the team completed a range of Openwork training programmes covering Consumer Duty, retirement income planning, investment solutions, protection planning, and compliance.

These programmes help ensure we continue to deliver advice that is not only technically robust but also focused on achieving good outcomes for clients, providing fair value, and adapting to changing regulations and client needs.

Protection planning has also been a major focus, with advisers attending specialist workshops designed to further develop their knowledge and skills when helping clients protect their income, lifestyle, and loved ones against unexpected events.

Educating and Engaging Our Clients

In May, we were delighted to host our latest Wine & Wealth Evening for clients at Evuna in Deansgate. The event brought together clients, advisers, and professional connections for an enjoyable evening of tapas, wine, and great company.

The highlight of the evening was a wealth update delivered by Sarah Hogan, covering current market conditions, economic developments, and key financial planning considerations. It was fantastic to see so many clients join us for an evening of learning, discussion, and networking. If you were unable to attend, you can watch the recording of the wealth update here.

We also hosted our webinar, How High Earners Lose Wealth (and How to Take Back Control), delivered by Sarah on 25th June. The session explored some of the most common financial planning mistakes made by higher earners and provided practical strategies to help individuals and families make the most of their wealth. Thank you to everyone who joined us live. If you missed the webinar, you can catch up by watching the recording here.

Learning from the Best

Sarah recently attended the MDRT Annual Meeting in Anaheim, one of the world’s leading events for financial planning professionals. Bringing together advisers from across the globe, the conference focused on areas including client communication, leadership, technology, tax planning, business growth, and the future of financial advice.

As an added honour, Sarah was invited to speak at the event, sharing her own experiences and insights with fellow advisers. The ideas and learning gained from MDRT are now being reviewed and incorporated into client meetings, adviser development, educational events, and the long-term growth of KBA.

Recognition for Excellence

Sarah also attended the Openwork Chartered Event, which focused on maintaining the highest professional standards within financial planning and provided valuable updates on pensions, estate planning, tax efficiency, and inheritance tax.

We are delighted to share that Sarah was named Openwork Chartered Financial Planner of the Year, recognising her commitment to clients, technical expertise, and dedication to delivering high-quality financial planning advice. It was a proud moment for both Sarah and the wider KBA team.

The recognition didn’t stop there. We were also thrilled to learn that Sarah has been shortlisted for three prestigious Women in Financial Advice Awards with Professional Adviser:

• Financial Adviser of the Year – North West
• Woman of the Year – Investment Advice
• Woman of the Year – Retirement Planning

These nominations are a fantastic reflection of Sarah’s dedication to her clients and the positive impact she continues to make within the profession. We wish her the very best of luck at the awards ceremony.

Looking Ahead

As we move into the second half of the year, our focus remains on helping clients navigate an evolving financial landscape while continuing to invest in our own learning and development.

The work completed throughout May and June ensures we remain well positioned to provide proactive, informed, and personalised advice, helping our clients make confident financial decisions both now and in the future.

As always, if there is anything you would like to discuss or review, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Warm Regards,
The KBA Adviser Team
