Every month, we share some highlights of what’s been happening in and around KBA.
This month, we’re dedicating the team update to KBA hero, David Parkinson.
In January 2026, David celebrated his 65th birthday. So, what better time to turn the spotlight on the man and take a moment to reflect on his quarter-century of professional achievement?
A true financial-planning legend, David has been part of the KBA family since 2001.
Through recessions, pandemics, tears, and joy, David has supported clients with his significant knowledge, experience, and banter, not to mention the contribution that he’s made in helping to create the team that we are today.
David’s professional journey
Before joining KBA, David worked at Prudential as a Financial Consultant, Sales Manager, and Pension Specialist.
Following that, he ventured into Allied Dunbar, where fate intervened and introduced him to Ken – the founding father of KBA. Soon after, David became an official part of KBA, merging his practice with Ken’s in 2001.
Here’s a photo of both brilliant men:

In a surprising twist, David spent his formative years working in the family butcher business, which continues to thrive today.
A wealth of respect
David has been a VouchedFor Top Rated Adviser every year since 2021.
Here’s a selection of client feedback from the past 12 months:

David’s advice for those in the financial services profession
Having successfully kept pace with the ever-changing financial services landscape – influenced by legislative shifts, market dynamics, and economic fluctuations – there are few better placed to advise younger generations looking to enter the profession.
David says: “Be prepared for hard work and commitment. The role involves assisting not only clients but also colleagues. You’ll receive comprehensive and ongoing training, support, and the opportunity to work alongside seasoned advisers within a well-known and respected brand. At KBA, we’re still a family business focused on caring for families and their finances.”
Never a dull moment
When asked about the best bit about a day in the KBA office, David didn’t hesitate: “Without a doubt, the best part of a day in the KBA office is our incredible team. We work hard, but the camaraderie and humour make the day enjoyable. A good laugh goes a long way in navigating the intricacies of our work.”
Aside from enjoying being part of the team, what David really enjoys is “meeting clients and helping them achieve their financial goals”.
Far more than a fantastic financial planner
While David is a much-loved member of the KBA family, outside of work, he’s a proud grandfather of two – Ophelia, age eight, and Arlo, age six.
Here’s a delightful photograph of David with a new-born Arlo, which he shared in the team update in July 2021. And below that is a more recent picture of all three of them, taken this Christmas.

David is celebrating his birthday with Julie, his long-term partner, on a sun-filled Caribbean cruise – we hope he’s having the time of his life; he deserves it.

Happy 65th birthday, David! Thank you for spending almost 25 years of those with us; your dedication, experience, and humour mean more to us than we can say. We genuinely don’t know what we’d do without you. 💜
