Every month, we share some highlights of what’s been happening in and around KBA.
This month, we celebrate KBA’s 24th birthday, Maura Baines makes her mark as she moves a step closer to a prestigious professional award, and 12 of us spent a day helping out at the Seashell Trust.
Celebrating 24 years in business

On Thursday 24 July 2025, KBA celebrated 24 years in business.
Although our roots trace all the way back to 1987, KBA was officially established as a partnership in July 2021, when a group of advisers who had previously worked under their own steam came together to form Ken Bates Associates.
Since that day, we’ve enjoyed an incredible journey.
Growing from a small team of six in one office to now 40 amazing people across five offices in the north-west and Cheshire, we’ve not only grown in size, but in strength and spirit too.
We’re immensely proud of how far we’ve come, and even more grateful for our brilliant team who make KBA what it is today.
And, of course, none of this would be possible without our wonderful clients – past and present – who’ve trusted us along the way.
Thank you for being part of our story. Here’s to many more years of growth, gratitude, and great memories. 💜
Maura Baines moves from shortlist to finalist

You might recall reading about Maura, our brilliant Paraplanning Lead. In May 2025, she was nominated for two categories at the Women in Financial Advice Awards 2025 with Professional Adviser.
And now we can reveal that she has upped the ante and features in the shortlist of finalists, taking her a step closer to the “Woman of the Year – Paraplanning” award.
We couldn’t be prouder and are cheering her on from the sidelines.
Maura’s dedication, expertise, and heart for both clients and the team shine through every day. ⭐
Winners will be announced at a black-tie event in Mayfair on Wednesday 12 November. We’ll have everything crossed for Maura!
Giving back with a charity day at the Seashell Trust in Cheadle Hulme

Some of the KBA team recently spent the day volunteering at the incredible Seashell Trust in Cheadle Hulme, getting stuck into a full day of grounds maintenance.
From gardening and painting to general site upkeep, the team rolled up their sleeves and helped maintain the safe, welcoming space that Seashell provides for its students and visitors.
For those unfamiliar, Seashell Trust is a remarkable charity supporting children and young adults with complex learning difficulties, disabilities, and additional communication needs.
The work the charity does is truly inspiring, and it was an absolute privilege for our team to contribute to such a meaningful cause.
At KBA, giving back is something we care deeply about, and we love hearing your charity recommendations from our wonderful clients.
Over the past few years, we’ve been able to support many local charities through grants, fundraising events, donations, and awareness campaigns.
So, if you’re passionate about a cause or know a charity close to your heart, please don’t hesitate to send it our way. We’d love to look into it. 💙
