Every month, we share some of the highlights of what’s been happening in and around KBA. This month, we have four pieces of news to share and celebrate.
A KBA Financial win
This month, Sarah and Tom attended the 2021 Solidus conference and Tom accepted an Achievement of Excellence Award on behalf of the whole team. This award recognises the work KBA Financial have done to help our clients protect their wealth in a tax-efficient way and ensure it passes on to the next generation.
Asked about the conference, Tom said: “We had an amazing time at the Solidus conference in Birmingham, there were some excellent presentations and speakers.
“It was great to pick up the award on behalf of KBA for all the fantastic estate planning work we are actively doing for our clients. We do lots of planning for our clients while they are here but, unfortunately, we also have to plan for when they aren’t. We want to ensure the wealth they’ve accumulated is protected and passed in a tax-efficient way onto the next generations.”
Karen Fogg has been with KBA for 18 years
Many of you will know our invaluable office manager, Karen. She first joined us as our mortgage and protection administrator and this month marks her 18th year on the team.
What were you doing before you joined the KBA team, and do you remember the interview?
I worked for Fujitsu renewing the computer maintenance contracts.
My interview with KBA was sooo long ago, but I do remember I’d arrived back from Florida the day before and was a bit jet-lagged.
What do you remember about your first day at KBA Financial?
A lady came into the office regarding a mortgage application that we were processing and it wasn’t going quite to plan. She ended up getting very upset. But we managed to sort everything out for her, so she was happy in the end.
What do you love most about your job?
My work colleagues. Without sounding like a broken record, as I know others have said this, but we are like a family. I also enjoy speaking to clients over the phone or in person and knowing that we can help them achieve their financial goals.
Favourite memorable moment?
A couple of years ago we went on a work trip to Chamonix. We had such a good time: we went up mountains in cable cars, snow shoeing, and over the border into Italy where we went on skidoos. We laughed so much!
It’s two years since we opened our Nantwich office
Late October marked the two-year anniversary of us opening our office in Nantwich. On the same day, Cheryl Clarke and Jessica Wheildon joined the team. Here’s what they have to say about their time working with KBA Financial.
Cheryl Clarke
Cheryl started off as a customer consultant and was promoted to team leader in July this year.
What were you doing before you joined the KBA team, and do you remember the interview?
I was a customer consultant at the Yorkshire Building Society. I remember talking to Sarah about final salary pensions.
What do you remember about your first day at KBA Financial?
Being very nervous but also very excited to see what was around the corner.
What do you love most about your job?
The customers, personal challenges, and how every day is different.
Favourite memorable moment?
The Christmas party back in 2019. The culture was completely different to what I was used to. I felt like I was being treated as a person and not a number.
Jessica Wheildon
Jess’s first position was a customer consultant, and she was promoted to a trainee paraplanner in February 2020.
What were you doing before you joined the KBA team, and do you remember the interview?
I was a customer consultant with the Yorkshire Building Society, dealing with customers face-to-face.
At the interview, Sarah came into the agency to speak to us all to introduce herself. I had just got back from Marbella the day before and we couldn’t stop talking about the places we had both visited there.
What do you love most about your job?
The flexibility of working at home, and between the Leigh office and Nantwich.
Favourite memorable moment?
Taking Lola (my dog) into the office most Fridays.
